St Andrews Festival Day 3

Happy St Andrew's Day! We began the day touring the Royal and Ancient Golf Club. Today is the only day in the entire year that they open it up to the public. Andrew was beside himself with excitement (I mean maybe I am exaggerating a bit, but he thoroughly enjoyed it). Later we went to the pipe band parade then followed the processional down to...well we don't know where it led us really. It was supposed to go to the harbour, but it actually led us to some weird live concert with lots of lights. Overall, it was a great Festival Weekend. We feel more enlightened about Scottish history and tradition. We also heard on the BBC this morning the Scottish National Parliament presenting plans for Scotland to become its own nation. I guess we shall see what happens.

Usually this is where they stop you and escort you away from the building.

Here we go!

Inside the R&A in one of the big halls. The big bay windows are where the members usually sit and stare at the golfers teeing off on Hole 1. Intimidating, don't you think?
