This weekend we rented a car and since that doesn't happen very often we wanted to take advantage of our freedom to leave St Andrews. So we decided to head up to Balmoral. The castle grounds are only open to visitors for a few months a year and we happened to be in the middle of that small window. Only one room in the castle is open to visitors. The room shows some of the Queen's dresses out outfits as well as video footage of the princes during their visits to the castle when they were little which we thought was interesting. We were amazed at the absolutely gorgeous scenery surrounding the castle. The grounds are, of course, maintained to perfection and since the location is so far removed from any city it is very serene and peaceful. I can see why it is a refuge for the Royal Family.

Sheep in the middle of the road! Andrew had to honk the horn to get them out of the way. Shortly after we saw a guy drive by with a sheep dog on the bag of his 4 wheeler. Hilarious! (probably not for him, but for us it was)
